Join us as we open the 8th Annual INA Meeting with a presentation by Shailesh Kumar, Head of the Global Insights Center at The Hartford discussing economic and geopolitical trends and the Global Insights Center’s outlook on global risk. The talk will focus on foreign policy and geopolitical shifts occurring, their impact on trade, and the resulting effects on the US economy and various sectors. This discussion will include an analysis and outlook for inflation, labor, interest rates, and industry-specific risks.
Shailesh Kumar, Head of the Global Insights Center, The Hartford
Shailesh Kumar is the Head of the Global Insights Center. In this capacity he oversees economic and geopolitical research to provide insights and risk advisory services to the firm’s leadership, underwriting departments, and its clients, brokers, and agents. The Insights Center is the Hartford’s centralized research hub, think tank, and consulting unit that helps establish the firm’s view of the economic and geopolitical landscape for the insurance lines to support risk decisions.
Before joining The Hartford, Shailesh was at the Eurasia Group, a geopolitical risk consulting firm, where he led the Asia practice and was concurrently the lead India analyst. Prior to that, Shailesh served as an economist at the US Department of Treasury in various capacities including as a debt manager overseeing the issuance of Treasury securities, he helped manage the Department of Treasury’s “Markets Room,” a unit that provided global financial market intelligence and it implications for national security to the US President, National Security Advisor, Secretary of Treasury, and others, and was also the India economist overseeing US-India economic policy. Earlier in this career Shailesh worked at various investment banks as a global macro investment specialist.
